Lucknow – A national seminar on ‘Hindi in the Global Scenario’ was successfully organized under the joint auspices of the IT College Hindi Department and the Uttar Pradesh Language Institute. The event commenced with a devotional song performed by students, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by distinguished guests.
Coordinator Prof. Dr. Neetu Sharma, Head of the Hindi Department, introduced the seminar by emphasizing the significance of language and culture in defining a nation’s identity. She noted that globalization has significantly accelerated the international spread of Hindi. From media and literature to advertising and web series, Hindi films have played a vital role in enriching the language’s presence abroad.
Following this, the dignitaries were felicitated with symbolic mementos and traditional scarves. The seminar’s inaugural address was delivered by Principal Prof. Panzy Singh, who highlighted Hindi as a global language and underscored the necessity of fostering its growth through research and higher education. She stressed that continued efforts must be made to elevate the language’s stature.
Keynote Address and Expert Insights
The keynote speaker, Dr. Sunil Pathak from the All India Literary Council, Uttarakhand, discussed the promotion of Cambodian literature. He further elaborated on the significance of the Brahmi script through a PowerPoint presentation, illustrating Hindi’s global influence. He also linked Father Camille Bulcke’s study of Ramkatha literature with the worldwide expansion of Hindi.
Professor Ramakrishna provided insights into Hindi’s global impact, citing its importance in countries such as France and Japan, where the language is being learned for business and academic purposes.
Professor Shruti from Lucknow University drew attention to Hindi’s role in India’s journey to becoming a global leader. She emphasized the contributions of diasporic literature and the role of indentured laborers in spreading Hindi beyond India’s borders.
Dr. Pranav Mishra from BSNV College, Lucknow, asserted that a language is accepted as a people’s language only when it secures a place in their hearts. He pointed out that Hindi Day is now celebrated in 180 countries, reflecting the increasing global acceptance of the language.
Dr. Rajendra Dwivedi from Government College, Kuchlai, Sitapur, spoke on the practical aspects of Hindi’s status worldwide. He highlighted that Hindi is taught in 190 countries, reinforcing its international significance.
Student Paper Presentations and Awards
The second session featured research paper presentations by students, including Kinjal Dwivedi, Muskan Singh, Deepshikha Rai, Kusum Lata, Rajnandini, Sneha Singh, and Gazala Hasan. Based on the quality of research, Muskan Singh secured the first prize, Kusum Lata received the second prize, and Gazala Hasan was awarded third place. All participants were honored with certificates of participation.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Neetu Sharma, Head of the Hindi Department at IT College, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and attendees for their valuable contributions in making the event a success.
